Something trivial but interesting happened recently that made me think of how God works in us.
So, a food vendor delivered a package to me by mistake around lunchtime. Incidentally, I was fasting that day and decided to break my fast early. To be honest, I was feeling pretty guilty about it, but I needed to eat because being hungry meant I couldn’t focus, and I had lots of work to do. Anyway, I decided to keep it in my freezer because it was rice, and I had just eaten rice. The plan was to eat it the next day or something. Tell me why, around the time I would have broken my fast, the vendor called after realizing their mistake.
I was kinda pained 'cause they said it was from my sister, and that made me giddy. I really would have eaten their food if I hadn’t just eaten. It would have felt like a blessing from heaven, a reward for my faithful fast. In the end, it worked out best for me, the vendor, and the actual owner that I hadn’t eaten someone else’s food. Sorting it all out would have been messy.
Even in a moment where I felt guilty in my weakness, He still was guiding me away from a messy situation. Maybe I would have actually gotten free food if I had fasted. Who knows? Either way, I am grateful for His ever-abiding guiding hand, orchestrating everything in my life towards His good pleasure.
Philippians 2:13 (KJV)
This scripture came to my mind as I was reflecting on this situation. It made me smile as I thought about how He works in us regardless of our inability. It’s truly humbling to realize how interested and involved God is in helping us please Him.
